Welcome to The Blue Ribbon Fundraising
Website
In 2005 a small group of us based in The
Ribble Valley, Lancashire started fundraising for UNICEF in the wake of
the Asian tsunami disaster. We held a couple of events which were very
well supported and this encouraged us to do more.
As 2006 was the 60th anniversary of UNICEF
we thought it would be appropriate to celebrate its success by way of
holding
The Blue Ribbon Ball in Blackburn, Lancashire –
the first of its kind in this part of the country. It was held in MAY
2007 and, although a little late, said a belated Happy Birthday to an
organisation that has helped countless children since its inception in
1946. We raised £31,000 during the evening and building on the success
of this event we decided to form The Blue Ribbon Committtee which is the
only group raising funds for Unicef in the North West. Currently , our
aim is to raise £100 000 to fund four Cold Chain Projects and we
hope to do this by continuing to engage the support of the local community
who have already been wonderfully generous in helping us to achieve so
much. (click
here for more details of the Cold Chain Project).
This web site has been set up to give people
more information about forthcoming events, how you can help and what has
already been accomplished over the past months. . We have been incredibly
lucky to have received support from so many people over the past few months
- thank you to them all. We couldn’t manage without you!
The Blue Ribbon
Ball Committee is made up of (above)
Vicky Lee, Eileen Sumner, Sheila
Bailey (Chair)
Anne Geldard (Treasurer), Andrena Backhouse and Andrea Yates.
